Riyuexia (Sun Moon Canyon) National Forest Park ("The Park") was established and named by Shanglin Liu, the chairman of the Riyuexia Forest Tourism Group. The Park, which belongs to the government, was based on eco-friendly concepts and is funded by volunteers from all over the world. 

The Park is located on the south side of the Lesser Khingan Mountains in the upper area of the Hulan River.  It is part of the Ma Yongshun Forest Farm of the Tieli Forestry Bureau in Heilongjiang Province, spanning an area of 29,708 hectares.  It was put into operation in 1998, and was approved by the State Forestry Administration of China as a national forest park and Forest Ecological Healthcare Center on December 28, 2000.  Riyuexia is viewed as an ecological healthcare facility for its promotion of health and wellness.    

Riyuexia is shaped like a flying dragon and located in the center of the swan-shaped Heilongjiang province like the heart of a swan.   An interesting natural phenomenon occurs here - one can stand in the bottom of the valley and see the sun and moon at the same time. Beautiful pine trees cover the valley and exquisite rocks such as the Pilgrimage Turtle, Looking-back Phoenix, and the Two Statues of Buddha crown the landscape.  The creek water is low in alkaline and minerals, and can be drunk from directly.  The air quality in the park is superb with up to 35,000 cubic centimeters of negative ions.  The Riyuexia model created by Shanglin Liu strives to promote harmony between humans and nature, humans and humans, as well as within oneself by maintaining a healthy balance of mind, body and soul.  Together with all of the natural scenes, the park shows advantages and charm as a unique forest resort to upkeep health. 

The park has more than 130 scenic spots in 8 subareas.  The scenic spots evoke compositions of ancient and modern Chinese as well as Western art, and have attracted forest and ecological healthcare enthusiasts from all over the world.

After over 10 years of hard work, the park is now a forest ecological center for the healthcare of everyone, including the elderly.  It combines eco-friendliness, tourism, upkeep of health and wellness, promotion of cultures and charity all into one place.
